Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) was formed in 1971 by a group of doctors and journalists aiming to establish an organization for emergency medical care. Today it’s one of the world’s leading independent organizations for medical humanitarian aid with lots of accomplishments around the world. This blog will be focusing on MSF participation in Yemen as it is an Arabic country and it’s so close to the United Arab Emirates. This blog will include MSF assistance in Yemen with some of our opinions and evidence about their work. 

After the destructive war in Yemen. An estimation shows 20 million of humanitarian assistance is needed in Yemen in which the MSF take a role and their activities in Yemen was so huge in which they treated 5,700 children from malnutrition. They also opened a surgical hospital in Mocha and performed almost 1,300 major surgical interventions for patients with war wounds while in Aden MSF teams treated 5,400 major surgical interventions. Also, MSF teams treated 570 patients with diphtheria disease across Yemen and they opened a new cholera treatment center.

In our opinion, the MSF contribution in Yemen reflected positively and they had a great influence on the Yemeni citizens as their team worked in 13 hospitals and health centers across the country and they provided support to 20 health facilities across 12 governorates. Also, they are highly trained professionals that treated people with deadly diseases such as cholera and diphtheria. 

Public Radio International (PRI) stated that MSF worked in 13 hospitals and health centers across the country with nearly 1600 staff members and 82 members from abroad. Also, they added that the MSF supported Yemen’s health system and they contributed to eliminating the cholera virus in 2017. According to peace insight stated that the

 MSF helped Yemen in healthcare by giving consultation and providing training courses in some regions in Yemen. 

To sum up, this blog was about the MSF assistance in Yemen as they give several supports and help to Yemeni citizens such as healthcare and they provided them some supplies such as food insured to overcome malnutrition. In our Perspective, we see that the MSF contribution in Yemen is reflected positively as some companies such as Public Radio International and peace insight attributed their work.
